By: Sir Richard Bowlby,
Attachment Advocate
"Heather T. Forbes and B. Bryan Post address some of the most pressing and challenging issues
faced by parents of children with histories of disrupted attachments.
The authors have the ability to strip away the fog surrounding these troubled
relationships exposing the reality of children's reactions and dysregulated responses

By: Sherrie Eldridge
(author of Twenty Things Adopted Kids Wish Their Adoptive Parents Knew)
This book puts relationship before performance, which in my way of thinking, is unconditional love.
Is there anything more important than relationship? We don't want "robot children." We want
children who can feel and connect in meaningful ways with others, beginning with their parents.
In a word, this book communicates grace-based techniques.

By: T.C.,
mother of an adopted child with a severe trauma history
This book is brilliant! The chapter on defiance is amazing. It hit so close to home
for me and my son. It was like reading about my daily life. This book lets parents
know there is another way. We, as loving parents, are out there trying to find solutions
and this lets us know that the traditional techniques we tried really do not work. And now
we can try something new and start healing, instead of controlling (no parent wants to
be that insensitive).

By: A Mother of Two Adopted Children
As a mother of two adopted children, one from birth and the other from a Russian orphanage, this book was a
REVELATION, and the first of its kind! I can't even number the helpful books I have read on adoption and attachment,
but this one truly understands the child from his/her perspective and life experiences. It just makes perfect sense.
This book offers practical ideas for loving our children where they hurt. I see my children differently now, but not
only them but everyone I know, including myself. This book is NOT just for attachment-challenged children, but any
child with ongoing issues, adopted or biological! The authors, however, do not stop at just helping us with their
insightful wisdom and knowledge. They invite us to attend an all-day seminar with them for FREE!

By: Stacey and Scott Annand, Parents and Advocates for healing families
Powerfully healing! Dr. Post and Ms. Forbes have written a profoundly insightful and absolutely critical
book for parents and professionals. The Stress Model gives us the understanding to truly provide emotional
safety for children with trauma histories. By revealing the connection between the body/mind system as it
relates to trauma and stress, it challenges all of us to embrace a paradigm shift. It reveals our own fears,
invites us to step into our child's internal world, and demonstrates how to respond to them with love. This
book inspires us to perceive all human beings on a deeper level and relate to one another with a higher
level of consciousness.
